Really dude? If you want an air filter that can be cleaned, throw a K&N in there.

Still looks better than the filters out of my old Cherokee.

Or one made by Amsoil.

Looks better than my K&N after 500 miles of driving.

How dare you try and up-sell that poor man!

I’ve had people snap on me for upselling them when I tell them they need new tires. That their tires are a safety hazard because they’re showing belt. We don’t sell tires. We don’t install tires.

I used to carry an old air filter in my XJ for offroad only use. Smack it out afterwards, good enough for what it’s for.

This is what I’m wearing right now.

Seriously. It takes like 30 seconds to swap that.

Just stick it back in and tell him you did? Or at least be nice and tell him to go buy a cheap air filter from Autozone and change it himself.

Oh I went puff puff and blew off some of the bugs and vegetation. Dumped the leaves off his cabin filter too.

I have no doubt. My friend, an auto shop teacher, has that happen all the time. While he does sell and install tires, he makes precisely $0.00 on them. It’s just more work for him.
He once had an English teacher bring in her POS Kia for an oil change. The tires were worn down to slicks. He quoted her a whopping $250ish for four tires installed. She got shitty with him about up-selling her, while he futilely tried to explain both how dangerous the tires were and that he made no money on the tires. The conversation ended this way:
“How many other cars have you hit this month?”
“Two. Why?”
She totaled the car two days later.

Yay upselling!
Working at a dealer, I can always tell the ones that aren’t even worth trying to upsell. If the history has nothing more than oil changes, they don’t usually buy A THING. No inop light repair, no air filters, no inspection, no soup for you. If I get a repair order for an oil change, and there’s a coupon for a cheap oil change with it (a common thing where I work) I usually don’t even bother filling out a Multi-Point sheet because it’s simply not going to lead anywhere.

Those are also the same people that will ask you to do things like duct tape their exhaust back on. Yes. I have gotten that request before.

Bahahahahaha thats a new one for me. I mean I’ve coat-hangered my own exhaust but I’ve never had someone request duct tape.
